Press ReleasesThe President received letters of credence from New Zealand‘s ambassadorFriday, October 28, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from New Zealand‘s Ambassador Peter Howard Riding. The President discussed with the new ambassador to Lithuania the prospects for expanding bilateral cooperation, in particular in trade and investment sectors. Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the diplomat every success in the new position and expressed belief that his active diplomatic efforts would contribute to the promotion of closer cooperation between Lithuania and New Zealand in the future. The Ambassador conveyed to President Dalia Grybauskaitė New Zealand's offer to sign with Lithuania the "working holiday" scheme agreement setting forth an opportunity for the young people of New Zealand to take short-term study, work or holiday trips to Lithuania and vice versa. The Ambassador also informed about the starting negotiations between New Zealand and the EU on the Framework Agreement to enhance cooperation in the spheres of human rights, terrorism prevention, environment, education, science, and innovations. Diplomatic relations between Lithuania and New Zealand were established on 10 January 1992. Peter Howard Riding is New Zealand's eighth ambassador to Lithuania. The diplomat resides in Berlin.
