The President received letters of credence from Indian ambassador

Thursday, December 15, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of the Republic of India, Monika Kapil Mohta.

 

Welcoming the new ambassador, the President underlined that cultural cooperation between Lithuania and India was already intense and therefore it should be used for enhancing economic relations as well. She said that it was very important to promote bilateral trade and investment projects.

 

According to the President, Sanskrit and Lithuanian - kindred languages - serve as a ground for further strengthening cooperation in education and culture, and for promoting exchange of students.

 

Dalia Grybauskaitė and Monika Kapil Mohta also discussed the economic situation in India and Europe. The President wished the Indian Ambassador every success in discharging her mission in Lithuania.

 

The 49-year-old diplomat earlier served in the embassies of India in Paris, Nepal, Thailand, and Poland; chaired the Indian Council for Cultural Relations in London for several years.
