The President received letters of credence from Ambassador Kornelis Spaans of the Netherlands

Tuesday, November 29, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of the Netherlands, Kornelis Willem Spaans.

According to the President, Lithuanian business people mostly choose the Netherlands of all foreign countries to invest in and the Netherlands is among the largest investors in Lithuania, therefore it is important to continue developing and promoting bilateral business relations.

Dalia Grybauskaitė underlined that not only bilateral but also regional cooperation was significant for both countries as the Baltic-Benelux dialogue could become a successful form of regional relationship.

The President also stressed that the Netherlands' support to the Permanent Air Police Mission remained one of the key issues in developing the mutual relations of NATO member states.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations with the Netherlands and the 10th anniversary of the opening of the Embassy of the Netherlands in Lithuania.

Kornelis Willem Spaans (51) before his appointment to Lithuania served in the diplomatic missions of the Netherlands in Beijing (China), Quito (Ecuador), Bujumbura (Burundi), and Barcelona (Spain).
