Press ReleasesThe President: Lithuania attained all projected goals at NATO summitFriday, November 19, Lisbon - At their summit meeting in Lisbon, NATO leaders unanimously adopted a new Strategic Concept for the Alliance.
"Finally, we have a decision that will guarantee security to Lithuania for many years to come. All heads of state unanimously adopted NATO's new Strategic Concept that lays out long-term contingency plans and reaffirms collective defense. I am very pleased that Lithuania's focused efforts have produced results and that in the seventh year of our membership we have concrete contingency plans, based on these core principles, for Lithuania and other Baltic states. The people of Lithuania now have stronger security guarantees," Dalia Grybauskaitė said.
The summit will continue through Saturday. A meeting of NATO and Russian leaders will also be held.
