President congratulates Queen Elizabeth II on 60th anniversary of her reign

Monday, February 6, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom on the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

"On behalf of all the people of Lithuania and on my own behalf, I extend our cordial congratulations on the occasion of Your Majesty's Diamond Jubilee. I send my best wishes for your continued health and for the peace and well-being of your people. I strongly believe that Your Majesty's Kingdom will continue to be a close friend and ally of Lithuania and an admirable architect of a unified Europe built on common values," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

According to the President, it is with great warmth that Lithuania remembers Her Majesty's visit to Lithuania several years ago - a visit that imparted special meaning to the growing relationship of the two countries and gave new momentum to mutually beneficial cooperation in many areas.

Queen Elizabeth II paid a state visit to Lithuania in 2006.
