2011-12-06 Negotiations on protracted conflicts have moved forward during Lithuanian OSCE chairmanship

President Dalia Grybauskaitė welcomed the participants of the Ministerial Council meeting of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). According to the President, in the entire course of OSCE chairmanship the resolution of protracted conflicts has been a key priority for Lithuania, therefore it is very important that after five and a half years of inactivity official multilateral negotiations on the Transnistrian settlement were renewed in Vilnius.

2011-12-02 Unity of the Baltic States will ensure implementation of important regional projects

Presidents of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, continuing a traditional meeting of the leaders of the Baltic States, discussed the issues of regional security and cooperation in implementing energy and transport projects. After the meeting, the EU Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas presented to the Presidents the railway project “RailBaltica” intended to connect the Baltic countries, Helsinki and Warsaw.

2011-12-02 Lithuania and Latvia to stand united in negotiations on a new EU financial framework

President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently attending the meeting of the Baltic Presidents, discussed with President Andris Bērziņš of Latvia the issues of bilateral cooperation, the situation in the eurozone, and the likely impact of the crisis on the economy of the Baltic countries. The leaders of Lithuania and Latvia also talked about the measures intended to enhance the supervision of financial institutions.

2011-12-01 Interconnections with European networks – guarantee of energy security for the Baltics

President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the meeting of Presidents of the Baltic States in Estonia. Discussing the goals and new challenges of the Baltic States the Presidents underlined that energy security and the ending of energy isolation of the region was currently a key priority for Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia.

2011-11-30 The President received letters of credence from the first Tajik ambassador to Lithuania

Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from Ambassador Kozidavlat Koimdodov of Tajikistan. During the meeting, the President and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations and the perspectives of economic cooperation between the two countries.

2011-11-29 The President received letters of credence from Ambassador Kornelis Spaans of the Netherlands

President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of the Netherlands, Kornelis Willem Spaans. According to the President, Lithuanian business people mostly choose the Netherlands of all foreign countries to invest in and the Netherlands is among the largest investors in Lithuania, therefore it is important to continue developing and promoting bilateral business relations.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė met with Vice Presidents Qu Wenchu and Lu Yong of an IT giant – Chinese company “Huawei” – to discuss the perspectives of cooperation and investments in the sphere of innovations.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė participated in the opening of the exhibition - fair of goods manufactured by Lithuanian companies and farmers. According to the President, effective Lithuanian business which is successfully developed in other countries is the best ambassador of Lithuania.

2011-11-22 Lithuania and Ukraine are enhancing business relations

President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently on a working visit in Ukraine, welcomed the participants of the Lithuanian-Ukrainian business forum. According to the President, this forum, as well as the meetings of the chambers of trade, commerce and industry which have been held for several years already, show the wish to promote further the cooperation of both countries in the sphere of business and to develop joint projects.

2011-11-22 Democratic development of Ukraine should raise no doubts

President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently on a working visit in Ukraine, met with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to discuss the relationship between the European Union and Ukraine, and the progress in terms of European integration. Speaking at the press conference after the bilateral meeting, the President has stressed that she came to Ukraine as its friend, but Lithuania is a member of the European Union and has to convey its message. According to the President, bilateral relations are developing smoothly, while the European integration process is getting complicated.
