President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to President Andris Bērziņš of Latvia on Independence Day. "As Lithuania and Latvia mark the twentieth anniversary of the reestablishment of diplomatic relations, I would like to see our bilateral dialogue and practical cooperation, based on mutual understanding and good neighborliness, grow even stronger," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė agreed with President Toomas Hendrik Ilves of Estonia, currently on a visit in Lithuania, to strengthen joint efforts in promoting energy security of the Baltic region. According to Dalia Grybauskaitė, successful development of Lithuania, Estonia and the region as a whole, as well as the well-being of the people in these countries, largely depend on energy security and on ending the Baltic States’ energy isolation.

This is the first visit of the Estonian President after his reelection for the second term.

Today the first regular container train Saulė - connecting Western Europe with China via Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus and Lithuania - will reach Lithuania. Having started in China at the end of October, the train this noon will be solemnly met at Kena railway station in Vilnius district. The project sees the light after a month since the President's official visit to Kazakhstan when the leaders of both countries agreed to support the shuttle train project on the highest level.

President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from Ambassador Ara Aivazian of Armenia. The President congratulated the first ambassador of Armenia who resides in Lithuania and wished to contribute to strengthening the relations between the two countries and to promote closer cooperation of Lithuania and Armenia.
