The leaders of Lithuania and Latvia also talked about the measures intended to enhance the supervision of financial institutions. President Dalia Grybauskaitė attended the meeting of Presidents of the Baltic States in Estonia. Discussing the goals and new challenges of the Baltic States the Presidents underlined that energy security and the ending of energy isolation of the region was currently a key priority for Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia. Dalia Grybauskaitė received letters of credence from Ambassador Kozidavlat Koimdodov of Tajikistan. President Dalia Grybauskaitė accepted letters of credence from the Ambassador of the Netherlands, Kornelis Willem Spaans. According to the President, Lithuanian business people mostly choose the Netherlands of all foreign countries to invest in and the Netherlands is among the largest investors in Lithuania, therefore it is important to continue developing and promoting bilateral business relations. President Dalia Grybauskaitė participated in the opening of the exhibition - fair of goods manufactured by Lithuanian companies and farmers. According to the President, effective Lithuanian business which is successfully developed in other countries is the best ambassador of Lithuania. President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently on a working visit in Ukraine, welcomed the participants of the Lithuanian-Ukrainian business forum. According to the President, this forum, as well as the meetings of the chambers of trade, commerce and industry which have been held for several years already, show the wish to promote further the cooperation of both countries in the sphere of business and to develop joint projects. President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently on a working visit in Ukraine, met with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych to discuss the relationship between the European Union and Ukraine, and the progress in terms of European integration. Speaking at the press conference after the bilateral meeting, the President has stressed that she came to Ukraine as its friend, but Lithuania is a member of the European Union and has to convey its message. According to the President, bilateral relations are developing smoothly, while the European integration process is getting complicated. President Dalia Grybauskaitė, currently on a working visit in Ukraine, attended a session of the Council of Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania and discussed with Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych the bilateral economic cooperation and the ways in which to enhance the effectiveness of the shuttle train “Viking” connecting the Baltic and Black sea regions. Tomorrow (November 22) President Dalia Grybauskaitė will go for a working visit to Ukraine. In Kiev, she will meet with President Viktor Yanukovych and Prime Minister Mykola Azarov of Ukraine, attend the fifth session of the Council of Presidents of the Republic of Lithuania and Ukraine, welcome the participants of the business forum of both countries, and participate in the exhibition - fair of Lithuanian products. |
