Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to Lithuania’s ambassador to Russia

Monday, January 16, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė presented letters of credence to the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Lithuania to the Russian Federation, Renatas Norkus.

 

According to the President, Russia's role is significant both regionally and globally and, therefore, the new ambassador will have very responsible duties representing Lithuania in this country.

 

Before his appointment to Russia, Renatas Norkus was Lithuania's permanent representative to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). In the course of his diplomatic career he also served in various divisions of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of National Defence, in the Embassy of Lithuania to the United States and in the Lithuanian Mission to NATO. In 2003, Renatas Norkus was bestowed with the Cross of the Knight of the Order for Merits to Lithuania. The 44-year-old diplomat speaks English, Russian, Italian, and French.
