Dalia Grybauskaitė congratulated President-elect of Ireland

Wednesday, November 2, Vilnius - President Dalia Grybauskaitė extended congratulations to President-elect Michael D. Higgins of Ireland.

"On behalf of the Lithuanian people and on my own behalf, I extend our congratulations on your impressive victory in Ireland's presidential election and on the vote of support you received from the citizens of your country. I sincerely wish you every success in taking on new responsibilities and ensuring well-being, security and peace in Ireland. I also strongly hope and believe that cooperation between Ireland - under your leadership - and Lithuania will be further developed in a constructive way," the President wrote in her message of congratulations.

Dalia Grybauskaitė emphasized that the joint work of Lithuania and Ireland in the European Union as well as close people-to-people contacts would continue to promote mutual understanding and bilateral dialogue, while common efforts would help overcome all challenges.
