Concrete cooperation projects strengthen Lithuanian-US security partnership

Friday, November 26, Vilnius - President of the Republic of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaitė met with General Duncan J. McNabb, Commander of the United States Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM), which is responsible for providing support to U.S. international missions.

The President underlined at the meeting that the decision taken by the U.S. Federal Government to ship cargo by transit through Lithuania's territory for the international mission in Afghanistan gave strength to Lithuanian-US partnership on security.

"The United States is Lithuania‘s key partner and ally within NATO in terms of cooperation in the area of security. I am happy that such concrete cooperation projects as this one as make our bilateral relations and our cooperation in discharging international commitments even stronger and closer," President Dalia Grybauskaitė said.

According to the U.S. General, the first shipment through the Klaipėda Seaport is expected already in this coming December.
