Public Events at the Presidential PalaceOn the eve of the International Children’s Day, the Courtyard of the Presidential Palace was opened to children, who watched a stage performance “The Recluse Ant” by the Panevėžys Puppet Wagon Theatre there. A lecture-concert entitled “History of Old Vilnius” was presented Sunday afternoon in the Column Hall of the Presidential Palace. Jonas Satkūnas, Doctor of Natural Sciences, spoke about the specific landscape features that influenced the siting of Vilnius castles and the rise of the city in this area. A concert – Spring Music and Poetry – was held at the Presidential Palace on Palm Sunday. City residents and guests had the opportunity to enjoy the performance of Jūratė Vizbaraitė (soprano), Viltė Gineitytė (student of Choral Singing School Liepaitės), Marta Lukošiūtė (soprano), and Tadas Girininkas (bass). The accompaniment was by Aleksandras Vizbaras. The Column Hall of the Presidential Palace hosted a concert of young music talents, international competition laureates. Last week, President Dalia Grybauskaitė congratulated the international prize winners, wishing them to perform at the most famed Lithuanian and world stages, to foster and develop their talent and to bring forth distinctive new interpretations to life for the enjoyment of music lovers. 2010-01-24 Family afternoon at the Presidential Palace
A family afternoon was held at the Column Hall of the Presidential Palace. Janina Gudzinevičiūtė and Irmantas Jankaitis from the Vilnius Lėlė Puppet Theater performed “The Tale of the Turtle” by Žanis Griva. The children’s ensemble Reketukas (leader Irena Strazdienė) from the Vilnius Techers’ Community Center, which sings and dances Lithuanian folkfore, mostly from the ethnic regions of Dzūkija and Aukštaitija, staged a special concert. A music and self-education event for the elderly was held at the Column Hall in the Presidential Palace. Among the performers were young talents from the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theater: the Chamber Music String Quartet led by Professor Audronė Vainiūnaitė, Raimondas Sviackevičius’ accordion class students and St. Johns’ Church Gospel Choir “Sounds in G” (conductor and artistic leader Kristina Žaldokaitė). The students of the Music Academy and the Vilnius Conservatoire performed music of different styles and periods, ranging from early 19th century to the end of 20th century. This autumn, the Presidential Palace is hosting a series of open-air events for the residents and guests of Vilnius. On Sunday, more than half a thousand music lovers were invited to the opening concert in the series “Autumn in the Presidential Palace 2009”. The inner courtyard became a stage for vocal music performed by the Liepaitės Girls Choir and the Vilnius University Women Choir Virgo. A plein air painting session was held by the Vilnius Art School for Children and Youth (Director Jūratė Stauskaitė) in the Presidential Courtyard this past Saturday. The residents and guests of Vilnius had the opportunity not only to watch about twenty children painting in the open air, but also to get an inside view of the historic courtyard. This autumn, the Presidential Palace will host a series of open-air events for the residents and guests of Vilnius. On September 12 from 13.00 to 15.00 hours, en plein air for students of the Vilnius Art School for Children and Youth will take place in the Presidential Courtyard. We invite all those who wish to visit the inner courtyard and participate in the children’s painting process to attend. The paintings will be displayed in the courtyard on September 20. |
